Q: What would be a good down payment for an 06 Subaru WRX?
I want to buy a Subaru sometime in 2009

A: The best way to put it in a dealership idea is most times %10 of the cost of the car or more credit depending.

Q: A car like the Subaru WRX?
I have been a big fan of the Subaru WRX for a long time, and I had planned on getting one when I started my full-time job. Well, I'm starting my full-time job, and the lease on my car runs out February 2009. Here's my delimma. I really don't like the direction the body-style of the WRX has gone in the past few years. It used to have it's own unique style, and now it just looks alot like other cars on the market. And now you can only get the STI in a hatchback???? No thanks. Now I'm looking for a car that is as similar to the WRX as possible in price (around $24,000 base price), performance, and its former good looks. Anyone know of such a car(s)? Which Legacy GT do you recommend?

A: I'm there with you on the hate of the new body style.. If you're so keen to stay with Subaru, then why not move into a leftover (06-07)WRX, or something other than an Impreza.. perhaps a Legacy GT? The performance is close, but the Legacy is IMO, a lot more cushy for the money, more interior room, more gadgets ( butt warmers kick a$$), and the same reliability Subaru is known for..

Q: 2008 Subaru WRX modifications...?
I just bought a 2008 Subaru WRX (No, not the STI, I wanted the sedan). Although the naysayers have all jumped on the "OH, I hate it!" bandwagon, I personally love it. Yes, the 2009 has 40 more horses, but I got a good deal on it because it is the end of the model year. Anyhow, I want to throw a cold air intake and new exhaust on it, which should put it well over the 2009 model's performance range. What other mods are recommended? I don't want to switch-out the turbos, way too expensive.

A: The intake and exhaust will not give you anywhere near the 09 power without tuning. You need some king of engine management To control the boost and fueling to make power with any mods. With just the intake and exhaust, you might make another 15hp. Maybe. Add some tuning and you can easily double that and much more reliably. Now if you are getting a tune, you might as well add the down pipe like the guy above stated but only if you are getting it tuned. All together, these mods should put you closer to STI power but more torque. I would find a tuner in your area to talk to as far as your goals and budget and he should suggest the best path to take. There are many kinds of engine management out there and different tuners use different programs so it's best to pick a tuner and find out what he works with. And one last thing. Do not neglect suspension while you get caught up in the power game. I would get that out of the way before starting with any power mods. Get used to the car and learn to control it first.

Q: 2008 + Subaru WRX w/sunroof?
I'm looking at a 2008 or later on in next year an 09 WRX (NOT STI). But I'm NOT digging the fact that you can't get a sunroof. Has anyone heard about this? Why isn't there one? Is there going to be one availible for the 2009 model? I know it sounds ridiculous that thats my only concern but having one in the vehicle I have now I dont think I can stray away from it. Sorry I just want to add that an aftermarket sunroof is unfortunetly out of the question. I need to keep my whole down payment towards the loan for the thing.

A: Keep an eye out, Subaru offers a "Limited" package on the WRX from time to time that comes with a sunroof and heated seats. I would recommend you wait til middle of 08....they might have it by then.

Q: 2002 Subaru WRX for 16 year old??insurance?
Im 16 gettin my license in a few months and looking for someting that I can tune make it ME.:) i was looking at this one http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=253378275&dealer_id=100014362&car_year=2002&rdm=1228699208581&num_records=25&model=IMPREZ&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=SUB&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&position=top&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=33029&advanced=&end_year=2009&transmission=&doors=&max_price=&cardist=12 if anyone can tell me a ballpark number for insurance i live in south florida. so mor like what 300+ a month? well yeah i know just cause it says turbo insuarance is going to be an itch. but i cant find any normal imprezas which i like to.

A: Budget $200 per month minimum, depending on if you will be under your parents' policy. South Florida has many vehicle thefts also. More populated areas cost more. I pay almost $100 per month on my 2004 WRX and I'm much older than you. Remember, insurance companies hate the word "turbo". A company may not even take the risk to cover you because of your age and the car you want. That car you listed has a bad clutch. Have you checked into an estimate on fixing that?

Q: Will there ever be another Trans Am?
I have a confession: I've loved Trans Ams since I was a kid. Smokey and the Bandit was great and I saw every episode of Knight Rider right on up until I was old enough to get a driver's license. Naturally, my first car was a '78 Firebird, followed by a '79 Trans Am (the car I wanted to begin with). I bought a 2000 Trans Am WS6 as soon as I paid off my student loans from college, and it's the best car I've ever driven. My face hurt when I bought it from grinning so much. Now it's got 100k miles, and I'm faced with a painful reality. It won't last forever. I can't bring myself to buy a Ford. And the Dodge Charger is just too heavy. The GTO is out, not that it mattered. It looked too much like a Grand Prix and had poor handling. I might be able to settle for a Camaro in 2009, but why should I have to settle? Am I going to have to look at a Subaru WRX STi or Mitsubishi Evo? Have things gotten this bad? Pontiac, tell me you're listening.

A: I am the proud owner of a 2000 NHRA Special Edition T/A. I was just having this very conversation with a friend at work today...he's a Mopar fan, but we'll forgive him. I'm afraid I can't source this, but the Vice President of GM gave an update to this subject. Already you know that the GTO has been built on the Holden Zeta platform that it's Monaro coupe and ute are built on. This will be the platform for the new Camaro in 2009. In 2008, Pontiac will re-introduce the GTO yet again with some redesign on the same Zeta platform. The GM VP also said that the next Impala and Monte Carlo will also be made from this Zeta platform. He even hinted that Chevy could put a front fascia on the Monaro utility vehicle, and re-introduce the El Camino, although he said that there were no immediate plans as such. While he did not mention the Firebird, it stands to reason that with the resurgence in popularity of old nameplates and styling, that we will see the Firebird in the future from the Zeta platform. As I told my Mopar friend, the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum, Charger, and yes, even the 2008 Challenger will all share the same platform, so the fact that GM is going the same route of using one platform for many different vehicles indicates to me that they plan to use this cost-cutting technique to bring more quality and variety into their cars. After all, there are MANY more T/A fans out there than Camaro fans, and if we shout loud enough, the Bird will rise again!

Q: Need advice in buying a used car! Details provided below. Thanks...just need opinions.?
Which one is a better buy? Both are Subaru WRX's, 2005...same model and trims, etc. Let's assume they both ride and perform the same also. WRX #1: Black, 53,000mi, Recent Clutch Replacement, Clean Interior, Many Chips From Rocks on Front, Paint Scrape on Front Bumper, Commuter Car to the City, Engine a Little Dirty IMO for 53k Miles, 2 Owners, Extended Warranty Until June 2009, Private Seller, $14,500 OBO WRX #2: Silver, 48,838mi, Clean Interior/Exterior (Assumed for Now Because I Haven't Seen it Yet), Hoping for Less Rock Chips than WRX #1, 1 Owner, Dealership Seller, $15,977 Well, what do you think? If the owner of WRX #2 did not beat the car, the clutch should last before replacement well above 70k miles.

A: If you can get the vin numbers for both cars I definitely think it would be worth getting a carfax report. It'll show whether or not the cars were ever wrecked and I feel that's important to know when buying a used car. Once a car is wrecked it'll never drive the same and could cause more problems down the road.

Q: subaru stereo, speakers and "subwoofer"?
i am a music nut and am about to buy a forester (2009). The salesman is telling me that just by adding the subwoofer to the stereo in the "premium" that it will make it the same as the "surround sound" 6 speaker system in the wrx sti..... shall i believe him or is there a major difference??

A: your better off just buying the car and changing the speakers to some good aftermarket speakers and an aftermarket sub, have you ever looked at the speakers they put in the car?? they are shit. i say buy the car and put pioneer 3way all around and some kicker subs

Q: I need a new car!! any ideas?
Im currently 16 but 17 in february. I had my lis. for about 9 months now and im i need for a new car. I recently sold my car and got scammed out of 4 grand. Now heres the plan when i get back to america after winter break (January 2) i will be in possession of 2000 dollars. I also am guarenteed a job at Costco ( 11 bucks an hour 20-25 hours a week). I need a newer car 2006-2009 that is under 20 grand so i can get a car put 2 grand down payment and pay 350 a month max for 60-72 months. Insurance is covered by my parents and they will give me 30 bucks a week for gas. Im looking at a car that has max a 3.5 liter v6 but would most likely prefer a 4 cylinder. Im currrently looking at: 2005-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX (16-18k for 280-350 a month) or 2005-2008 Chevy Cobalt SS (14-18k for 220-320 a month) I need some help picking a car out. It needs to be manual, under warranty, somewhat fast, and not a gas guzzler. Any ideas... please share!! thanks :)

A: Chevy cobalt
