Q: Subaru WRX?
my partner is buying me a Subaru WRX and I am trying to decide between the standard WRX or the WRX sti, we are in Australia...anyway advantages/disadvantages for both, we are paying cash....... Mitch

A: You won't regret buying the WRX STI. When you open up the throttle on the freeway and fly past anything in front of you lol. You will even give those Holden Monaro's a run for their money. But if it's too expensive you will be happy with the WRX, that's the middleman. Below Impreza WRX is just cars for the wife's

Q: What car should I get 350z or subaru wrx sti?
I am 16 years old and my dad bought a 2004 350z. I really had no influence on this buy. I was looking at 2005 subaru wrx sti. I dont know which to get because I like the 350z but it only has 2 seats while the wrx has 5. Please tell me which one you would choose, and the + and - of each car.

A: depends what youre looking for... the STI is faster, has AWD for better handling... smaller engine but with a turbo which has a few advantages... like if youre not making boost (turbo doesnt kick in till like 2500 rpms) youll be using less gas (but good luck trying NOT to go fast in that car)... like you said seats 5, 4 doors etc etc the 350 is a sexy looking car... lower, lighter, smaller... powerful v6, nice interior and sound system (that bose is amazing)... like i said it all depends on what youre looking for.. if you want the looks and the fun of RWD go for the 350 if you want the rally type experience: fast, fun, challenging... go with the STI.. and as far as perfomance mods go, it'll be easier to make the STI faster because its already turbo'd... you want more power out the 350, the largest gains in HP will come from forced induction now ive got to do the responsible thing and give you a little pep talk... first off youre only 16 and im 90% sure you wont be paying for this car all by yourself... if i were you id get a beater car that you can learn to drive on (and not get too upset when you damage it)... both the cars youre looking at are beasts and take experience to drive, so that should probably be your first priority

Q: Is it easy to take a turbo off a subaru wrx?
im asking this because i might get a 97' subaru wrx wagon.Due to victorian laws i cant drive it with a turbo, so is it easy to take it off? and if i do, do i have to take the intercooler off as well? Also, would this be expensive or a relatively cheap job?

A: You must be in the UK. I suspect it might be a difficult task due to the fact that you'd have to set up the engine to run without the turbo. I would find a very skilled mechanic or take it to a Subaru dealer.

Q: Where is the best insurance company to insure a subaru wrx turbo?
Im 40 years old and am going to be buying a subaru wrx turbo ,can anyone suggest a good insurance company and how much roughly would it be to insure it fully comp .THANKS .

A: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance They show you a method to search just about every insurer. I've just gone with Swiftcover. Cheap *and* online.

Q: What oil should I use in a 1997 Subaru WRX engine?
I have a 1997 Subaru WRX, not sure if it is a STi, and don't know what oil to use! I don't mind on what brand it is, just want to know what grade is best! It has a ZeroSport computer from Japan in it, and runs 18 pound boost. Does that make any difference?

A: Mobil 1 is the best! It is expensive but well worth it. You get better gas mileage and more performance out of your car. A win win is what I say. use man. req. like 5/20 or 5w/30 they sell for all makes

Q: What does it take to convert a Subaru Wrx to natural gas?
I have an 03 Subaru WRX and I need to know what parts I need, how much they cost, and if i can figure out how to do it myself to convert my vehicle to natural gas.

A: go to your natural gas outlet and tell them for what car

Q: Should I buy a 05 subaru wrx with 81k miles ? Is too much miles a red flag ?
I want to buy this 05 Subaru WRX, but it has 81000 miles on it, thats an average of 40k miles per year should I be concerned? what type of questions should I ask the sales man? Blue book value on the car is $17400 and the dealer asking price is $14999. Is that a good price? Your Advice would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks ! The car is at a deler so I dont know who previously owned it.

A: You can ask the salesman who the previous owner was, it will take him 2 minutes to check the deal jacket in the office. resistance here would be a red flag for me. It may have been on the road closer to 3 1/2 years. sporty turbo car......would want to determined what kind of life it had.....are stock tires replaced with cheap dealer installed ones? Look at paint closely...give it a good test drive, he may want to take it around the block once, but i'd want to hear that motor as it builds to near red line, feel it at 70 75 on the hiway any vibrations...listen does shifter go into gear fast and smooth? Does the clutch grab the friction plate like a pit bull, or can you feel it let go a little. engage the brakes at different speeds, does the pedal go down really far., its there any wheel shake. Ok ....this is a deal where a $50 mechanic inspection is a good idea. The mileage is high but not a deal breaker, Subies are tuff little buggers. I would ABSOLUTLY bargain this guy to the wall if i wanted that car......ready for Bear.....We don't know what $ he has in it.

Q: How much for a 2007 subaru wrx sti engine and where to get it?
How much for a 2007 subaru wrx sti engine and where can i get it brand new or used? And how much should labor be for swapping the new one in

A: I can't give you an exact dollar figure but I would imagine it is quite expensive. This engine gets worse gas mileage then most V8's, I don't know if that is of any concern to you. To answer your question you may want to contact Subaru of America. Hey "tonuprocker", whatever that means? Stop being so foolish to believe everything that Subaru publishes, using unrealistic testing parameters! Try spending some time reading "unbiased" publications that publish real world WRX mileage at no more then 17-19 MPG on average using "premium" fuel no less.

Q: Did Subaru make a 2002 WRX STI? If so do you have any good links to check out?
Im thinking about purchasing a 2002 Subaru WRX and going to a junkyard to pick up some parts from a STI. I would just spend the extra money to buy a STI but their are some things i prefer about the WRX (2.0L 5-speed) i want the brakes from a STI and some suspension components does anyone have any good suggestions?

A: They did, but it was not available in the United States. The first year for the STI in the U.S. was 2004.

Q: How much will my insurance for my subaru wrx be?
Tomorrow i will be getting a 2002 subaru wrx and i was just wondering how much could i be expecting to pay for insurance. If it matters i live in Orange CA

A: Like in your situation,I would like to advise you have a look here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm .

Q: what year of subaru wrx sti would you buy and why?
what year of subaru wrx sti would you buy and it what color? i like the 2005 and black with glod rims and you?

A: i love the new one 2008 black and my customized blue rims!!

Q: I am interested in a 2007 Subaru WRX STI, they are asking $26,900. How much can I negotiate?
I saw a car that I really like. They have a 2007 Subaru WRX STI for $26900 and it has 12,808 miles. The vehicle is in perfect condition. How much do you think would be a good price after negotiation?

A: You can try offering 25,000 and see where it leads but if you look in the classifieds of Subaru forums, you'll find that that is a really good price for a car with that mileage if it is in good shape. If it is being sold by a dealer, just make sure there is some kind of warranty and if it's being sold privately, make sire they have maintenance records and have it looked over by a reputable shop.

Q: what is the difference between a normal engine and a red top engine in a subaru wrx sti type r 2 door?
hi, im looking to buy a subaru impreza 2 door wrx sti type r, just wanted 2 ask what is the difference between a red top and a normal engine... and if possible whats the difference in BHP in the both... which 1 is recomended... and also what is the difference in the 2 door P1 and normal 2 door WRX STI TYPE R Thanks alot everyone

A: There is a big difference. The 'red top' you refer to is the STi engine. The intake manifold is painted red. The main difference is power. Roughly 280bhp compared to 250 on the WRX models. The internals are stronger and are more performance orientated. Gearbox and drive train are also different. As regards the difference between coupe WRX STi Type R and P1, not alot. The P1 uses the coupe Type R as its base. The P1 was only available in UK. It was 'built' by Prodrive and there was a big options list that the owner could spec up but there wasn't anything done with the engine. You could spec a filter or exhaust. It was also limited to 1000 units. Also, depending on the year, the appearance will be different. Now for the recommendations!! Due to the fact the P1 is limited, expect to pay more than the coupe Type R. The Type R is a good, solid car. It has performance extras over the standard STi 4 door EG: gearbox, drivetrain,ECU,body panels,DCCD. If I was going to buy one I'd head for the coupe and spend the cash you save on breaks or wheels. But if you're into exclusivity, by all means get the P1. Or if you can find one and the bank manager likes you, get the Daddy of them all, the 22B!!! Just be careful. Same rule as buying any car. Look out for signs it has been trashed. The more original it is the better for you. Good luck >>>Sorry but the P1 wasn't the first Jap import to the UK. It was actually built by Prodrive for Subaru UK to steer people AWAY from buying Grey imports. Engine is still 1994cc<<<

Q: Why are there still new Mitsubishi EVO 9s out there vs Subaru WRX STI?
I am in central FL, and I notice that dealers still have several NEW 06 Mitsubishi EVO 9s. It's much harder finding a new 2007 Subaru WRX STI, since they get sold quicker. I am a prospective buyer and would like to have some input on this. Why is this? Does the EVO have other 'achilles heels' other than the dreaded premature clutch wear? Is the STI the better car for the street and occasional track? The EVO is praised in all magazines and people as 'the car to have', yet the Subaru STI is the 'hard car to find'. Can anyone shed light on the subject? Thanks.

A: This is just a guess, but from what I have seen, it may have to do with the area you live in. I live in Maine, and I see about 5 STi's driving down the road evey single day, if not more. I know 3 people who own one. But, I have only seen 1 Mitsubishi EVO in the entire state! I frequently drive in the highest populated places in the state, and I am on the look out for these cars and have only seen 1. But when I lived in Mesa, Arizona for a month, it was the complete opposite. I met someone the 1st day there that had an EVO. Also, I would see many of them speeding along the streets every day, and i still saw some STi's, but not nearly as many as the EVOs. So maybe Mitsubishi and Subaru have figured out where in the U.S. their cars sell the best, and stock them accordingly. Maybe the Northeast sells more STi's than the west, so they ship more to the northeast and less to the northwest. That is my only guess.

Q: Is there such a thing as a AUTOMATIC Subaru WRX sti?
I ask because I love the look and specs of the Subaru WRX sti but I cant drive a manual. I can learn but other people in my family are gonna be using it too and they are not going to learn to drive a manual.

A: No automatic STI yet, but you can get an auto WRX
