Q: When does the 2009 Subaru Outback Sport release to the market?
I'm waiting for information on the 2009 Outback Sport but I can't find anything official anywhere.

A: I work for Subaru so I'll fill you in. There are no significant changes to the Outback Sport for 2009. The cars have all the features of the 2008s, except they now feature internal mud guards in the wheel wells that are also designed to cut down on rain and road noise, the center console has been slightly redesigned to more closely resemble the 2009 Forester, the hazard light button is now red instead of silver, the carpets are all black, and there is one new exterior color, Sage Green Metallic with Steel Silver Metallic two-tone. The Topaz Gold and Steel Silver color combination has been discontinued (it was ugly as sin anyways). MSRP will increase about $300 over the 2008s. They are still available exclusively as a 5-door and the only option will be manual or automatic. The last allocation of 2008s hit late last month; the boats with the '09s should start arriving later this month meaning that the cars should show up on dealer lots sometime in October or early November.

Q: Subaru Outback 2009 -reprogramming my remote car starter?
In the owner's manual, they say to locate the small black programming button behind the fuse box cover... Could someone give me more information to find this programming button... thanks

A: The fuse box is under the dash on the left side of the drivers compartment. That's all the help I can provide. Good luck.

Q: In terms of mileage and "greenness", should I wait for 2009 cars or should I buy a late-season 2008 car?
The leases advertised now (for Hondas, Toyotas, volvos, etc) seem very desirable but my 17 yr. old daughter says to wait for next year's hydrogen based cars to get the best value for my money. Any ideas or suggestions? I will make about $3000 dollars (beyond my loan) once I sell my 2005 subaru outback. Thanks for your help!

A: You'll have wait a lot longer than the 2009 models for hydrogen fueled cars. And you don't have to buy a hybrid to get great fuel economy. It's true that some of the lease deals now being offered by manufacturers, especially Honda, are genuinely good deals. But make sure you understand leasing so that you get the best possible deal. Q: better off with a new forester (2009) or used outback (06-07)?
....any thoughts from longterm subaru owners? I live in the fire area of southern california...down a dirt road...i figure either of them can handle that, but can't decide on taking the $2k hit for driving off the lot in a new one (that was I know the history of the car) or an 06 or 07 to save the hit and get the extras (like upgraded stereo, leather, etc.) Any thought??

A: If you can swing it I would always choose new over used. Just knowing how it is going to be broken in and maintained is a good feeling. Used cars are a gamble no matter how reliable the car is because you have no idea how the last owner took care of it. But if you can't afford the new then go for the used one.
