Q: What's the best modification to eliminate turbo lag on the 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT...?
I can't stand the turbo lag on my 2007 Legacy. Does Cobb Tuning offer the best solution?

A: better get it tuned by a pro. tuning is the only real answer.. weld that shit and ur engine will blow up cus of high PSI... i mean... ur turbo cant even exhale when its not running if u do that...

Q: How often should my 2007 subaru legacy car be tuned up?
It now has 15,000 miles on in and no tune up. When should it be done?

A: check your owners manual service schedule, but plugs and wires ( I assume thats what you mean by a tune up) are recommended every 30,000 for most subarus I believe

Q: How good is the 2007 Subaru Legacy?
I noticed on the window sticker that it was made in Indiana. But the parts are Japanese. However, on the Impreza, it was made in Washington State, using 100% Japanese parts. Is the Legacy a good car?

A: You should follow the answers to this question also: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmkySTIV4BbN.522F8OhJ_FBxgt.?qid=20070404143135AAG3gC2 I also have an Outback, but it's quite similar to the Legacy. My '07 Outback is the 6-cylinder that you can't get in a Legacy, so I can't compare there, but my '06 Outback had the 4-cylinder that you would get in the base Legacy. It's an acceptable engine, but I felt like I was flogging it to get into traffic at merges, etc. It never complained, but I passed the 4-cyl to my daughter and bought a 6-cyl for my right foot. Prior to the Subaru's, I had a Honda Accord (6-cyl) and I thought I'd never buy anything but another Honda. Now I'm thinking that way about Subaru's. I don't know that I will "need" another Outback when the time comes, but if that's what I have to buy to get the 6-cylinder engine then I will. The turbo was "fast," but not "quick," if you know what I mean. Go to any news stand NOW (or your library) and pick up the April issue of Consumer Reports. You'll see just how well the Subaru rates in any category that you are interested in.

Q: Can a 2007 Toyota Camry smoke a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT?
I noticed the Camry has 268HP, while the Legacy GT has 243. I know the Legacy has AWD, but can a Camry beat a Legacy GT performance wise? And which do u think is better?

A: Here are the fastest 0-60 mph times I've found for either car: Camry 6.1 seconds (speedshift) 6.8 seconds (automatic) Legacy GT 5.7 seconds (manual) 6.5 seconds (automatic) The two are very close in straight-line performance, and there is some overlap in their numbers. However, on slippery surfaces, the Legacy would widen the lead because of its AWD. In terms of handling and overall performance, I would also give the edge to the Legacy, which is quite agile and has significantly smaller exterior dimensions than the Camry.

Q: What does it mean when all of my service lights come on? I have a 2007 Subaru Legacy.?

A: it means that something is not working the way it should. if it is flashing, it means that it is a really big problem. find out what the error code is, then someone can help you more, there are code scanners that can tell you what the error is. search for "obdii code scanner" to find out more, most auto part stores sell them

Q: Which is better: 2007 Nissan Altima or 2007 Subaru Legacy?
I want to buy a car soon. Which do you recommend and which is better? Which lasts longer? Better reliability?

A: They're not the same thing so you cant really compare them. The subaru has AWD. This is gonna make it feel a little slow. However it should handle much better than Nissan. I'd personally go for the subaru but its up to you really.

Q: How smooth is 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i?
Does it have smooth acceleration? Is it fast?

A: Yes its nice at 173 hp. Great handling and ride. It has a smooth drive and it has pep.

Q: 2007 Subaru Legacy GT LTD Turbo seat belt chime/ accessory outlets?
MANY DAYS I HAVE TO RECHARGE MY CELL PHONE IN THE CAR WHILE WERE NOT DRIVING. HOW DO I GET THE THE 2 ACCESSORY OUTLETS TO STAY ON, WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING,SINCE IM IN AND OUT OF THE CAR OFTEN IN MY BUSINESS. AND I NEED TO KEEP THE TELE CHARGING..................... BACK TO THE SEAT BELT CHIME!! IVE TRIED 4 TIMES THE SUGGESTED 30 SEC 20 TIMES METHOD WITHOUT SUCESS IT ONLY WORKS TILL THE KEY IS TURNED OFF. THEN NEEDS TO BE RE DONE ALL OVER AGAIN HOW CAN WE OURSELVES DISABLE THE SEATBELT CHIME. MINE EVEN CHIMES IF IM SITTING IN THE CAR ON NOT IN DRIVE!!! LOVE MY NEW CAR!! BUT I NEED A BIT OF TECH HELP

A: The chime is basically a fuse look onto your service manual locate fuse pull it out hold onto it go about 75 mph down road roll window down and throw it out problem solved. Now for charging problems I suggest you get spare key made like one by itself and stick it in and just turn it to accesories to keep it charged and take your cute little electric door locker and lock the doors and go do your business but make sure you have spare key incase your remote decides one day batteries are dead.

Q: Is there a catback exhaust system for a 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i?
stock non-turbo engine.

A: no.......

Q: does anyone know how to disable the daytime running lights on a 2007 subaru legacy 2.5i special edition?
i am disabling my DRL becuase im going to install HID lights and those are going to be on all the time. to have hid lights running properly you must disable the DRL and thats why i want to disable it.

A: Daytime running lights are there for yours and other drivers safety. Daytime lights use a lower voltage then regular lights and if you are concerned they will burn out quicker they will not. Believe it or not if you do anything to your car that Subaru does not approve of you could possibly void your warranty, especially if you remove the DRL relay and you end up with electrical issues.

Q: Install BOV on a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT Spec-B?
My car is stock except for a K&N filter and a Megan Racing CBE + catless downpipe.I also have a Cobb Accessport for it. The sound from a BOV is cool and all, but if it will not benefit me, I am cool with living without it and saving $.Also, any suggestions on next upgrade(s)?

A: It really depends on your driving style and if you track the car. The BOV will vent the air that used to be routed back to the intake, the computer will still think it's getting that air and increase fuel flow for a split second. Without the air, you run very rich between shifts. Now some say this can damage your motor and some say it's not enough to do much damage. I think if it's a street car, you are fine but do you really want to risk it? If you want a little more sound, you can either remove the silencer in the fender of change to an aftermarket intake and you will hear the sound quite a bit more. There will be no benefit to run an aftermarket BOV until you are pushing over 20lbs of boost with an upgraded turbo. The stock one does it's job very well till then. As far as the next step, I would get a Protune done. It will make quite a difference. But if you are getting a tune done, I would think about an upgraded intercooler and maybe a turbo inlet. But I think I would work on suspension before more power if you haven't done any yet. The Bilstein system on the Spec-B is very good but can be made much better.

Q: What are the best cost effective mods for a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT Spec-B?
I bought my Subie 4 months ago and I am loving this car! I would like to add some power. I am looking for a few easy upgrades to add 50-75 HP (maybe more depending on cost). I was thinking of installing a K and N cold air intake. Also any recommendations on exhaust? I would like to make it sound a more beastly when I get up on it, but still somewhat quiet for normal driving. Any help is appreciated! THANKS! OK so I think I have decided on a Cobb Accessport and a new exhaust system. A Cobb TBE is a bit out of my price range! I would like to stay under $1500.00. The Megan CBE is more in my price range. does anyone know much about it? I could get it and add a downpipe. Would that be basically the same as a TBE? Also would I pass emmisions?

A: I agree with chris up there. A full turbo back and a tune will get you close. It's good you have a goal in terms of power but you need to give us some ideas of how much you are willing to spend. A full exhaust and custom tune will get you really close to the power you are looking seeking for about $1500 but if you are going to get a tune, you might as well get some other bolt ons added too. An intake and upgraded inter cooler will cost another $700 to $1000 and but give you another 15 - 20hp. Worth it? it's up to you. For another $1000, you could upgrade your turbo to an 18G and gain another 30-40hp . Just showing you why a budget is so important because it can get out of hand really quickly. I would look for a reputable tuner in your area by looking up vendors on NASIOC.com and find one to talk to. Most tuners have their favorite tuning software and they will help you get to where you want to go but they will ask your budget so have something in mind. Also, don't neglect suspension mods. A good set of stiffer springs and sway bars will really tighten things up and make the car perform much better too. In fact, depending on how you drive, just an exhaust and tune with suspension mods may be more enjoyable than adding all the power and driving on stock suspension. Again look for a good shop near you and have a talk with their tuner and you should be put in the right path. Legacygt.com is another good site for you to find tuners and also read about different exhausts. Look for local meats too where you can talk to people about different set ups.

Q: Which 2007 car is better, a Subaru Legacy, Honda Accord or Mazda6?
I have narrowed down my choices to these three which I would like to buy during the fall when the 2007 models are cleared out. Just wondering what other people thought about the pros and cons of each and which is the better buy.

A: It seems like every body's gotta Accord. The Legacy is a sharp car. AWD and the GT comes with a turbo charged engine. Even a stock model is a real head turner. And the Mazda6 is quick as hell and real unique looking car. But, I think you'll have an easier time finding an Year end deal on an 07 Accord if you procrastinate because there's more of them in production than the SUB and the MAZ.

Q: Turbo kit for 2007 Legacy Limited?
I can't find a turbo kit for my new 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited. Any suggestions? Also will I get better mpg with a turbo kit installed?

A: It's new enough, trade it in and get a Legacy GT. You'll then have a low compression motor that was actually meant for a turbo, and actually have a warranty too. Also the LGT takes to mods very nicely and more than likely for less money than it takes to get a 2.5i to a GTs stock power, you can buy a GT and have it slaughtering the 2.5i. You will get worse gas mileage with a turbo installed even if you drive like a grandma because it is in the intake path as well as the exhaust path and causes more work for the motor when not spooled. Judging by the fact that you want to add a turbo kit to a car that you can buy readily with a turbo kit, I'm judging that you want to drive like a monkey on crack and as such you will get horrid gas mileage. My STi averages about 21mpg on the highway with a stroked cammed motor, but I actually drive nice on public streets. At the track I average about 3mpg because I have 1000cc injectors pouring gas in almost as fast as they can spew it. Your best bet is really to just go trade it in and get one that is already turbo'd. Adding a turbo kit to a non turbo car is the fastest way to destroy resale value, and to absolutely void every ounce of your drivetrain warranty.

Q: Anyone else unhappy about the inconsistent cruise control in the 2007 Subaru Forrester? My 99 Legacy was exact

A: The main difference between the two systems is in how they control the throttle position, and why one is so much more accurate over the other. Older Subarus used a throttle cable, and the pedal was literally 'hard' wired to the throttle plate. This was very precise, and didn't allow for much variation in speed. Newer cars are 'Drive-by-Wire', meaning the throttle is controlled through the ECM, using a sensor on the pedal, and an electric motor on the throttle itself. The ECM is continually making adjustments to this motor, even when the cruise is set, to maintain engine load, vehicle speed, and fuel economy. That accounts for most of the inaccuracy you may be experiencing. I own an 07 Impreza currently; between that and my 98 Legacy, I kind of got used to it after a while.
