Q: I want to lift my 1995 Subaru Legacy L Wagon about 3". Will Outback parts of the same year work on my Legacy?
I'm thinking of finding a parted out or scrapped Outback and swapping the Suspension, shocks, struts and springs. I'll also probably use the wheels from the Outback. Basically I want my normal Legacy converted to an Outback.

A: Very simple. Find a wrecked Outback. There is a spacer between the frame and the body. Use it along with the taller struts front and rear. Slap on the taller wheels and tires....you're done.

Q: how to remove the rear brakes from a 1995 subaru legacy wagon?
i just got a 1995 subaru legacy wagon and all the brakes needed to be changed so i bought all the parts switched the front with no problem but now im at the rear brakes and cant seem to figure out how to remove the old brakes, is anyone familiar with how to replace the rear brakes on a subaru legacy wagon? Thanks...

A: by a manual. 12 bux rear brakes are a different challenge, you generally need special tools. the springs and so forth are diffucult to put back and to get off even. Search google for brakes. all brakes are generally the same and rear brakes present new challenges to the novice.

Q: What are some of the symptoms of a 1995 subaru legacy with a check engine light on?
They don't have the scaner there.

A: It could be a lot of things....as simple as a loose gas cap, to an engine misfire..you need a code #, and likely some additional diagnostics to be sure..There are over 80 systems that are monitored by the ECM... a malfunction in any one of those can cause a code and a CEL. More in-depth diagnosis is required to pinpoint a problem, and isolate a fault.. If there is a noticeable difference in the way the car runs.. it could be serious, if not.. less so.. more information would be required to make even an educated guess..

Q: How much should I pay for a mechanic to replace a clutch on a 1995 Subaru Legacy?

A: I am not sure of current flat rate on this repair. My guess is 5 hrs labor + parts. So it depends on shop rates in your area.

Q: how big is my gas tank? 1995 subaru legacy wagon?
i own a 1995 subaru legacy wagon. I would like to know how big my gas tank is

A: If you are from the US it should have a 60L tank which works out to approx. 15.9 Gallons.

Q: How much should i sell my 1995 subaru legacy wagon with over 100,000 miles for?

A: If it is clean and servicable, about $2000, maybe a bit less. If it is banged up, needs work, tires etc, something less. If it is in tough shape, $500. Astrobuf

Q: 1995 Subaru Legacy squealing?
My Legacy is making a squealing noise from the engine. I'm thinking its the serp. belt but cant be sure. The squealing is pretty bad. Does it sound like a belt to you? Is this a fix I could do myself? If not what will it cost to get fixed? Thanks for the help.

A: Sounds like a belt. The part's not too expensive, labor shouldn't be too much either. Good Luck!

Q: 1995 subaru legacy sedan?
hey im looking for my first car and i found a 1995 subaru legacy sedan. its an automatic and has 144,000 miles. do you own or have you owned this car and what are the pros/cons of the car. have you had any problems with it ect. Its a 2.2 litre and its $1,950. it seems to be in good condition for a car its age

A: In Suby years, that model is just in it's late teens. I would have your mechanic visually check on the # 4 cylinder though. It is the farthest from the oil pump, and it can get starved for oil if there are any blockages/ buildup from poor maintenance. It makes for a tough (commonly more expensive than the car is worth) fix for the mechanic because that cylinder is on the bottom side in the back of the motor. They will have to take it completely out of the engine bay to work on it efficiently.

Q: what does this button do in my 1995 Gt subaru legacy?
I have a button and cannot work out what it does it looks like the front windshield demister, but it has a wipe blade for it. i have seperate buttons for heating the windshield, and heating the back windsheild so it can't be either of them. i did think it could be heated wiper blades?

A: GT twin turbo....Nice car! THe button is next to your handbrake right? It heats the very base of the windscreen to stop the wipers freezing to the glass on super cold frosty mornings. Press it and after 1 min feel the wiper area!

Q: 1995 Subaru Legacy- Broken antenna?
I just bought a 1995 Subaru Legacy LS Wagon through private sale. The antenna is broken and doesnt work. The outside machinery is still there but the antenna is inside of it. Where can I buy a new antenna and is that easy to install? I contacted my local NAPA but they said that they had no parts that could fix it. Any help would be greatly apprciated!

A: oh you are "lucky" to own a subaru. P.O.S. too....try a junkyard, they should be pretty cheap and sometimes they may help you install the new one. DO NOT go to a dealership they will charge you your first born!

Q: I have a 1995 Subaru Legacy sedan that has started making a squeaking noise sometimes when I accelerate - why?
It doesn't squeak or squeal when I apply the brakes (and I just had a brake job done on it about 5 months ago)... just does it occasionally when I accelerate.

A: serpintine belt? power steering fliud? hove them checked out

Q: im looking for a rear fender for a 1995 subaru legacy can anyone help me?

A: Try auto wreckers, parts shops, most of them can find one for you.

Q: Is it worth replacing an engine gasket and steering fluid pump on a 1995 Subaru vehicle?
I have a 1995 subaru legacy station wagon that started leaking motor oil as well as steering power oil several months ago. The vehicle is in not-so-great shape in general. A mechanic told me that it requires a lot of labor to get the engine gaskets replaced and that it could be an expensive job. What would you do my case? Thank you in advance for your reply.

A: It is quite common for the oil pump seal to go bad on the 1995 Legacy. A new oil pump costs about $130 and with installation that's about $300. A rebuilt power steering pump should be another $130 and with installation $300. The car is probably worth spending the $600. The timing belt has a life expectancy of 80,000 miles, so I would replace that along with the oil pump if it hasn't been replaced. It's not critical since the engine is a non-interference engine and the valves will not be damaged when the timing belt breaks.

Q: Where can I buy a back lock assembly for the hatchback on a Subaru Legacy 1995 wagon?
Perferably online. I have searched ebay, Napa, Autozone....?

A: you will most likely need to get it from a junk yard and get it re-keyed so that it matches the key you already have. The other option is to get it through your local Subaru dealer. If you can find it at a local junkyard, you can get it re-keyed at any locksmith.
