Q: where can i buy a factory repair manual for a 1993 Subaru Legacy?
I read the reviews on the Chilton and they are very negative. I also read the the Haynes manuals are not good either. So instead of waisting time with aftermarket manuals, I need a factory manual. As need one that is intended for a factory mechanic to use in order to do complete troubleshooting and repair. One that tells me everything about my car. Thanks.

A: online

I pressed it while driving and I tell no difference. Wondering why it's even on there.

Q: Does Anyone know where to find a reliable engine for a 1993 Subaru Legacy in NJ?
Not sure where to look. Any info will be appreciated.

A: car-part.com. I've bought many engines using their search feature and they have a nationwide network of recyclers so finding a good used engine in NJ shouldn't be a problem. Try to find an engine with low highway miles (an out of city limits recycler most likely) as there will be less wear and tear on it. Shipping should be around $30 - $80 in state (and depending on freight carrier) and in some cases the recycler has their own delivery service. Most recyclers take credit cards over the phone / fax.

Q: How much does it cost to replace brake calipers, rotos and pads on 1993 Subaru legacy sedan?

A: about 500 bucks if you have 15 inch wheels 450 if you have 14 inch wheels I have a 1995 legacy and did the same thing about a year ago these are prices from advanced auto parts but most parts houses will run about the same

Q: What is the Top Speed of a 1993 Subaru Legacy with 4 spd Automatic FWD?

A: they're supposed to be goverened to 115, mine shuts down at 110...but you have to remember by rule of thumb your speedo is off by roughly 3% of your real speed (so if it says 100, you could be doing 103 or 97MPH !!)

Q: 1993 Subaru Legacy Tilt Steering Wheel won't lock in up position?
Just wondering if there is an easy affordable fix.

A: There two switch that you have to use to set the tilt steering wheel. I believe one is under the column center and one is at the left. The one on the left should able to be free anytime and your wheel can be tilted. The one in the center was existed in 1994; but not sure in 1993. It was to use to lock the position. If it still not work, your steering column may be worn out.

Q: What is wrong with my 1993 Subaru Legacy?
It drove perfectly fine from my house to my university (which is a 45 minute drive), but when I got to school, it was doing weird stuff. My dad said it's probably the fuel pump, or the fuse for it. The problem: which fuse is the fuel pumps? It does not say fuel pump, so is there another term or something that I should look for? The problem is that when I tried to start it again, the engine was stuttering and making the whole car shake, and giving it gas did nothing. Then I tried again later and it wouldn't start at all. It just cranked and then nothing. So I don't know where the fuel pump is or which fuse belongs to it. My dad also said to check the battery cable to see if it's corroded or broken or something, so could that also be a reason? Serious answers only, please. And if you're a mechanic and know about S.L.s, please help! I don't want my dad to have to drive all the way over here to tow my car home! It's not the battery, it's got half a tank of gas, and the oil is fine. Thanks, but where exactly is the relay? And how would I know it's messed up or broken? :)

A: Based upon the symptoms your father maybe correct. It sounds like the engine maybe losing it's supply of fuel. The fuse for the pump should be underneath your hood in the engine area. But it may not be the fuse. There should also be a fuel pump relay which turns on the fuel pump when you turn the ignition key. Many times, the pump and fuse are fine, but the relay has a tendancy to burn out. If your car is not starting, based upon the symptoms you described, my guess would be fuel supply. Have someone look at your car. Check the fuse and relay. Response: The Fuse and Relay should be in the black box behind the battery on the driver's side of the car. The black box's cover should have a label indicating which one is the fuse and relay. The black box is next to your windshield washer resevoir. To check the relay, have someone find the relay and listen carefully for a click when you turn the ignition on. Not start, or accessory position for the key, but on. The relay should click when you turn the key to ignition on. If you don't hear a click, have someone test the relay. At the same time, you can visually check the fuse by removing it and seeing if it has burned out. Hope that helps.

Q: what is the automatic transmission fluid capacity for a 1993 subaru legacy?

Q: 1993 Subaru Legacy is it a reliable car?
http://www.vicenzamwr.com/classifieds/detail.php?id=2137 There is the website I am in Italy, trying to find a beater, but of course reliable. It has like 141,000 miles and the body isn't really in good condition.

A: Any Subaru should be a reliable vehicle! I have wanted one for years! The miles don't really matter as long as you take care of it and keep up with the maintenance. As for the body---how good are you with fiberglass kits and painting? But i guess if it is a beater...THIS IS FOR YOU!

Q: How to change tire for a 1993 subaru legacy? I have removed the lug nuts. can't get tire off.?

A: Thump the inside of the rim with a big hammer a few times (Do not bend the rim) but sometimes you have to be a bully to get them off. Another way is... put all the lug nuts back on about half way, set the car back on the ground... if on the front... turn the wheel back and forth a couple times... in the rear... rock the car side to side a few times... these usually work for us. - Good Luck!

Q: I'm thinking of buying a 1993 Subaru Legacy with 97k miles at $2,100. Does it look bogus?
http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/subaru-legacy-cars136528105 This seems a little too good to be true. With this little miles does anyone figure what could be wrong with it? Also has anyone had any history with this car? I know that subarus are supposed to be pretty reliable and run for a long time. This is why I figured the price for it, there must be something wrong.

A: Oh yeah Subaru are the shit I love mine i have 107000 on it and its still running strong. The older legacy are nice too, depending on the elevation you live at and how much driving up and down steep hils. they have a history of cracked heads and blown head gaskets over 3500 ft. But i havn't heard of anything else. You can do like a rutine check on the car your self i mena start it up and test drive it drive on the free way smash the gas after it has warmed up and break really hard without holding on to the steering wheel to see if it pulls either way. Also when you if you decide to buy it write up a bill of sale... info on that I.E. gool : bill of sale auto, ad in the bill of sale you want to have a certified mechanic go over the car, as long as everything checks out good you would still e interested in purchasing the vehicle. Oh and 2100 its a pretty good price you have to remember that car is 15 years old a few miles. take it to the shop and have them take a look at it im sure the ower wont mind. If they do then you know something is up. good luck

Q: I have a 1993 subaru legacy w 70,000 miles-recently hear a clacking noise by front passenger wheel--?
only hear it when going straight not when turning--have to b going over 30 mph--live on long bumpy dirt road--have had tune ups but no lube--seems to b getting alittle louder past 2 weeks. need to put off costly repair if I not hurting it...? what can I check--im no mechanic!! also very slight shudder when apply brakes on long steep hill...

A: Ya all been driving it that way and ya have no money to pay for repairs. Keep driving the can and it will eventually break....Just hope no one gets in a big accident because of your carless attitude. You are not in the boat alone---many cars need repair and the owners are in the same shape as you...Your problem is axle and brakes...One or the other or both...Need to take it into the shop...

Q: The dash lights on my 1993 Subaru Legacy don't work, and I can't figure out why. What can be the causes?
I recently purchased a 1993 Legacy from a mechanic to use for trips back and forth around town for computer repair. The car is old, and has high miles - 210,000. However, it runs very nice and I got it for next to nothing, so I like it. The only problem, however, is that the dash lights don't come on at night when I use the headlights. None of the guages light up, nor does the climate control or the indicators on the gear shift. Since none of these light up, it leads me to believe it's either a blown fuse or something more complicated, because it'd be a little too coincidental that all the bulbs in all those places would blow out. And yes, I've checked the dimmer switch. :-P I've checked all the fuses and they're all intact - can anyone help me out as to what may be the problem? I'm not sure if there's a board or anything that controls these lights, but I'm willing to get one from a junkyard to be able to see at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

A: I believe that there is a grounding problem with the dash board lights. Run a test wire to the dash board frame from a solid ground. Best of luck.

Q: 1993 Subaru Legacy FWD Automatic?
Can someone tell me where the fuel pump is located? How can I access it? And what is the flow rate of it?

A: the fuel pump is just left of the rockers i think under the inlet manifold and im not sure what the flow rate is

Q: I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy.. What is the Manual switch for on the stick shift.. It is automatic transmission?

A: The switch allows you to shift the transmission manually. If you press the manual switch and put the car into 2nd gear, it will start out in that gear. This can be helpful in winter/slippery weather. The car will not shift automatically when you have it in manual mode.
