Q: 1992 Subaru Legacy Code 35 Evap purge valve?
I have a 1992 Legacy LS 4x4 Automatic. The CEL is flashing code 35 which according to my manual shows a problem with the EVAP purge valve curcuit. I have cleared the code, then after a short drive the CEL will come on again. It seems to light back up after I have turned the car off, then restarted it. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. Also the car runs great even with the light on, (good performance)

A: It's a defective purge control soleinod valve. It's located on the intake manifold, has a few vacum lines and an electrical device on it, I believe the connector is blue or brown. When you buy a new one, look under the right side of the intake and match the part with the new one to locate it, it is mounted with a 10mm bolt.

Q: 1992 subaru legacy suspention problem?
I have a 1992 legacy and the suspention is bouncy, so it needs replacing but it has this "height adjustment" option so i'm not sure if its a air suspention. Where would be the best place online to get the proper I think "air struts" or whatever part I need to fix this car from being a trampoline?

A: Ditch the factory self leveling suspension for straight up struts with new springs. It will be cheaper than trying to go oem. i have kyb gr2 that are stiffer than stock and come with lifetime guarantee . check the strut towers for rust holes, they tend to rot out. dont forget frame bushings and subframes, i had the rear one break off completly on my quarter million mile 93 wagon. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__KYB-GR-2-GR2-STRUTS-SHOCKS-SUBARU-LEGACY-4WD-92-94_W0QQitemZ150247927719QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150247927719&

Q: How do I remove the rear seat from a 1992 subaru legacy?
Keys are locked in the trunk, and I thought you could remove the back seat to get in the trunk...if that's true...how??

A: I believe that there is a little switch or button on the back of the seat that allows it to fold forward giving you access to the trunk. Check the back of the seat and see if that isn't the case.

A: check the needle on the carb..

Q: Why won't my 1992 Subaru Legacy start?
I was running low on gas so i stopped to refuel and the car wouldn't come back on. We took out the spark plug and wire still connected and it wasn't getting a spark. It doesn't seem to be getting any gas either. its a 1992 Subaru Legacy MPFI Turbo

A: thanks for voting me best i do them for $200 to $300 depending on the engine you can expect to pay $400 most places there not a do it youre self job the marks for the timing are confusing sounds like you broke a timing belt to me sorry good news this engine wont bend valves have the water pump swaped also (for maintanace )

Q: Whats wrong with my 1992 Subaru Legacy?
The other day i was drivin me subaru and all of sudden the lights etc dimed and the radio went quite as and the car stalled, then it regained life, did this about 3 times then died. Charged my battery then put it back in and it went for a few hours then did the same thing again. I thinks it my alternator but not sure, if it is could someone help me with what kind of alternator would fit in, details on my car- 92 legacy turbo auto 4wd cheers mate

A: its definitely your alternator. you don't have to replace your batt. it should be fine unless your alternator arched it out, but after you charged you battery and the car still drove for a few hours with out charge from the alternator i'd be saying you batt is fine id recharge it and if you have any knowledge about cars and stuff most alternators have a external regulator on the back of them which you can unscrew and put a new one in this usually fixes 90% of them for about 20 bucks other wise a alternator would prolly cost you bout 150 you can get them at any auto spares place (rather then from subaru)

Q: where is the fuel pump located on a 1992 subaru legacy?

A: Inside the fuel tank. There should be an access panel under the front of the trunk carpeting. Dropping the gas tank is a big deal on those cars.

Q: 1992 subaru legacy has hot exaust near engine, but not near muffler caused oil leakage(I think)?
Hey this happens only on trips longer than 10minutes, exhaust heats up and there are bits of smoke coming from both pipes under the engine at the joint, bad cat? i don't know, engine doen't seem hot but exhaust sure is.

A: Sound like you just have a leak at one of the gaskets. I would put the car up on ramps and run the motor till you see where it's leaking from.

Q: do they make body kits for 1992 subaru legacy?

A: Not really, its not a common tuner project. Best bet it to find a 95-99 legacy gt or 93-01 impreza rs bumper set and stick them on, they fit pretty close and you dont have to spend 500 bucks on 90 pounds of fibreglass.

Q: 1992 subaru legacy LS AWD wagon?
I have a air ride suspention and i'd like to change out to just regular stuts, is it the same fitment from the air struts? because i went on e-bay and they say will fit EXCEPT wagons. what brand is good I need struts, boots, mounts.

A: I have done a few of these swaps.Just go to salvage yard and buy all 4 struts with springs and mounts from a junk 92-94.they bolt right in

Q: Need help with a 1992 Subaru Legacy L?
I have a Subaru Legacy that is no longer running, my brother seems to think that it is the computer in the car. Which would be fine, he also thinks he can replace it without too many problems. The problem is, we can't seem to find the computer. The book/manual we have for the car says it is under the dash on the passanger side. It's not there, trust me, he has torn up a lot looking for it and can't find it. Anyone have an idea where it could be located? He has checked and changed many things on the car. Why waste a car if it can be fixed? He also knows the the car is not getting gas. And yes, the car does have gas in it.

A: Okay here is a link to people selling the computer. I am sure you can ask them and they'll tell you. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=92+legacy+computer&category0=

Q: how do i recharge an air conditioner in a 1992 subaru legacy??

A: You don't need to take it to a garage. 1. Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a recharge kit compatable with your model and year vehicle. 2. Pop the hood and find your A/C compressor and follow the lines until you find your "High" and "Low" valves, they will be small, most of the time a light green, caps labled "L" and "H" mounted on the A/C piping. 3. Read the directions on the recharge kit. It's very simple. Or if you don't feel safe doing it, take it to a shop and spend around $150.($100/hour standard shop labor + parts)
