Q: subaru legacy?
we have a 92 subaru legacy that is having cooling problems. we have put in a new water pump and timing belt. the car still starts to overheat. we are unable to get heater to work and is not blowing out hot air. is this a problem in the heating core? suggestions and tips are welcome yes we put a new thermostat in and changed the fluids and it does cycle on and off would that explain why i cant get any heat out of the heater core

A: Your heater core should be fine. To make sure it is not blocked you can do this: Take both hoses off the heater core and put a garden hose up to it. If you can get the water to flow both ways through it, then the heater core is fine. The only other way for a heater core to go bad is to have it puke coolant all over the passenger side foot well (been there, done that...). More than likely you have a nasty air pocket that is not giving up. The hoses for the heater core are one of the highest points in the coolant system. So an airpocket can prevent fluid from entering the heat core. You need to keep bleeding the air out multiple, multiple times. There are several little tips and tricks to trying to do this, but just simply continuing to bleed the air and refilling the coolant is what will eventually get it done. :)

Q: How hard is it to add fog lights to a subaru legacy wagon?
I just bought a '97 Subaru Legacy L Wagon and am very happy with just about all of it. One problem, I'm moving up to the foothills where they have crazy fog, so I need fog lights. Before I get started I wondered how hard is it to install fog lights from a kit? Also: Which kits are recommended? Are there kits with LED bulbs? Are LED bulbs recommended?

A: Your car should be pre-wired for the lights. Check out sites such as www.subaruparts.com or www.1stsubaruparts.com

Q: How do I know if my Subaru Legacy 1994 is AWD?
Hi, this may sound dumb but I am new to driving. I have bought a Subaru Legacy 1994 Sedan. I do not know if it is AWD or not. Is their anyway to find it out? I heard all Subaru cars are AWD. And is there any difference between AWD and 4WD?

A: AWD = All Wheel Drive, always 4wd you can choose to use 2 wheels, and if needed all 4 wheels, and Subaru is always a 4wd or Awd car so neither way you have one of them.

Q: Does anyone know where I can find a decently priced bra for my 97 Subaru Legacy?
I'm driving an old Subaru Legacy and I'd love to cover up the chips on the front bumper by using a car bra. I've looked on ebay and some other sites, but can't find one for under $75. If you know of anyone selling one or a site that can help please let me know. Thanks!

A: Try Craigslist.com

Q: Occassional Stall in a 91 Subaru Legacy Wagon?
My 1991 Subaru Legacy Wagon AWD Automatic starts and drives fine but begins to "sputter" after about 5 minutes. Sometimes it stalls and sometimes it will keep going and the sputtering stops for a while (a few miles), then it sputters again. What could cause this?

A: It sounds to me like your fuel pump is going out. basically is what happens is when you first start you car it is running fine but when you drive it for a minute it starts to heat up and it doesnt pump enough fuel causing the car to sputter. I had the same problem on my 97 mustang a while back.

Q: what is the proper procedure to bleed the cooling system for subaru legacy?
92 Subaru Legacy, BC2, EJ18, thermostat does not open even with a new one, and radiator fan does not stop and that happen after replacing water pump and filling the coolant. bleeder plug has been opened, even the car has been jacked at the front. still the radiator fan working and thermostat does not open.

A: go to http://www.ultimatesubaru.org go to the forum section, then the new generation section. There are probably quite a few people who can help. I think some of the guys fill the engine up thru the top coolant hose, then install it. That's what I did the last time. Dumb question I know, thermostat in right?

A: look at any kit that will fit or is made for the EVOs the Legacy can have the same style but the side skirts and front peices and rear will be longer and bigger.

Q: How do I change a front bearing on a 99 subaru legacy AWD 2.2L?
I managed to come to the conclusion the the front right bearing needs replaced on my 99 subaru legacy. I tried smacking the hub with a rubber mallot to loosen it but I'm not sure if im going about it the right way. Do I need to take the knuckle off or should the hub come right off? Is this a "do-it-yourself" job or should I take it to someone? I want to avoid spending big money if at all possible. Can anyone help?!?!

A: Hi, Firstly, well done for having a go yourself! I often see answers on here that just say 'take it to subaru' or similar. At the end of the day, anyone can 'get someone else to do it'! That said, you will need to remove the steering knuckle/hub assembly complete. as you can see, 19mm nut on the lower ball joint, 17mm nut on the track rod end (steering joint) and 14mm nut on the rear of the hub clamping the shock absorber. You will also need to remove the Brake caliper and carrier and unclip the hoses as well as removing the outer drive shaft nut. Sadly, once you have the assembly in your hand you will indeed have to find someone with a suitable press to both remove and refit the bearing. That said, they ought only to charge you half an hour labour as you have done all the fiddly bits yourself. Refitting is, as they say, reverse of removal. Dont forget you will need new split pins for the nuts you removed! Good luck!

Q: Is there ever going to be a Subaru Legacy coupe?
I mean Toyota has the Solara, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Eclipse. Why can't Subaru make a Legacy coupe?

A: No.

Q: Need to remove my Kenwood stereo out of 1992 Subaru Legacy?
I need to remove the stereo I had put in my Subaru Legacy. It isn't the factory stereo, but I'm getting rid of the old car and just want to keep the nice stereo. Any help on removing it?

A: If it was installed properly, then it is iso mounted. This means you will have to remove your dash trim and the mounting bracket and unscrew the radio from the bracket. Not a big deal for your vehicle. Just follow these directions: http://www.sonymetc.com/fitguide/SUBARU/1992/LEGACY/SU101.pdf good luck!

Q: Where can I find an ash tray for my 2001 Subaru Legacy?
Jeez...I searched everywhere on the net and can't seem to come across anything. I bought my 2001 Subaru Legacy 2 months ago and there's a big gaping spot in my dash where the ash tray should belong. I really would like to fill that space. I'm having no luck finding one anywhere.

A: www.1stsubaruparts.com Click on OEM parts catalog, click on body parts, enter the information for the car, collision catalog will show. Click on instrument panel, click on instrument panel (in the expanded list), click on ashtray assembly, click on "VIEW ILLUSTRATION" in the expanded list. You should see a picture of the entire assembly and a list of the parts. Find the one you need (looks like it's number 22 - assembly - $17.00). Order it directly from there.
