Q: What's the difference between the 2008 and 2009 subaru impreza?
Please have specific details!!!
A: Nothing is going to be different. I have heard rumors on forums but nothing with evidence that things will change and with the 09's coming any day now, we would have seen or heard something concrete by now.
Q: Im getting a 2009 subaru impreza 2.5i, i want it to look like a wrx/sti, what should i put on it?
Anything to help me make it look good i would appreciate it a lot, thanks! And i would like answers from people who have had or know anything about subaru
A: dear original poster,
please don't
sincerely,
STi owner
with the money you spend to have a look-a-like, you could have bought a very nice used WRX
Q: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V.S 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI?
Even tho the evo is faster already....the 2009 sti looks like a joke what were they thinking????? when they were making it they were probably all high and drunk and thought they were making a space ship...HAHAHA the new evo is so so sexy awwwwww makes me wanna cwy
A: Both cars have been killed off by American stupidity, just like the M3.... and M5 and M6.... and all BMWs for that matter. The new Impretzel looks like the bastard child of a Mazda 3 and a Ford Escort.
Q: I have a 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i what happens if I turn off the VDC?
A: simply put VDC is justs a fancy term for Traction Control, turn it off and all the power goes to the wells, it's up to you to....well...control it!
here's a more complicated explanation:
VDC is Vehicle Dynamics Control VDC is composed of 2 main systems: VTD plus VDC full time 4 wheel traction and engine management. VDC is traction control that senses vehicle direction and uses brake, throttle and engine management to help maintain stability. The components of the VDC system are: all wheel drive using the VTD system. When the wheels are spinning without traction or the vehicle is not going in the direction it is being steered, the VDC system kicks in. Direction: uses brakes to slow down wheels to reduce spin and help control vehicle direction. Skidding: yaw and steering wheel sensors use brakes to slow down spinning wheels and re-direct power to the wheel(s) with the best traction to re-gain control. Engine power use engine output to slow spinning by reducing spark to cylinders to cut back power and help re-gain control.
Q: 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI?
so that do you think of the 5 door model? was it a good or bad change??
A: It's a good step foreward, and kind of a testament to Subaru's dedication to performance. The reason they offer it in a hatchback now is largely due to them wanting to shorten the overall length of the vehicle for competition in WRC. The result is a very quick and nimble car with better weight balance/transfer and tighter turning radius than the previous STI's.
Unfortunately for many (myself included) it seems all the time was spent on R&D for mechanics and performance (which is where it matters don't get me wrong), but I wish they would have taken more time on the asthetics to make it a more unique looking hatch that stands out (or still offer the sedan for that matter). There really is no denying it, when the average person sees one it looks like a focus with a hood and wide fenders....
Q: Which to choose... 2009 lancer ralliart or 2009 subaru impreza wrx? thanks!!?
A: If you said Lancer Evo vs. Subaru WRX, then I might choose the 09 Lancer, only because I think it looks better. I think both will do 0-60 in just under 5 seconds.
Q: I have a subaru impreza wrx 2009 i was wondering if i can add subs in the back without changing the header?
Subaru Impreza WRX Subs?
I also am planning on having an amp installed as well into it but i was just making sure i dont need to change my header because my ipod cable would connect to the header. It's gonna be a preety sick set up just gotta pick out my amps and subs im thinking two amps and subs but i might end up just getting one amp and sub.
A: Easy answer yes, I bought a high level to low level converter from my local go fast store and you wire it in line with your speakers, it has a low pass filter on it and rca's for your amp to plug into, managed 130db with two shitty kenwood 12 inch subs and the box wasn't even ported, it cost me 20dollars for the box. I did this in my HSV GTO cos I wanted to keep my steering wheel controls for my stereo, it's really easy. Hope that's what you needed.
Q: Subaru Impreza 2.5i: Manual or Automatic Transmission (best option for best AWD system)?
With the 2008-2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (the RS renamed), the decision of transmission affects the system of AWD control. I realize the advantages of the transmissions from a view of only the transmissions, but I want to know the advantages/disadvantages of the AWD control system.
Taken from the Subaru website:
Continuous AWD: Models equipped with 5-speed manual transmission utilize a viscous-type locking center differential with torque distribution normally configured at a 50/50-split front-to-rear. If wheel speed differs between front and rear axles, the system helps distribute power to the wheels with the most traction.
Active AWD: Models equipped with 4-speed automatic transmission utilize an electronically controlled variable transfer clutch to distribute power to where traction is needed. Sensors monitor parameters such as wheel slippage, throttle position and braking, to help determine power distribution and direct it to the wheels with optimum traction.
Note that while it doesn't say so here, for the automatic transmission I believe I've read the torque distribution to be 90/10 FWD/RWD. So which AWD control system is superior, and why?
EDIT: I realize that all Subaru cars come standard with AWD and that I don't get an option. The fact that there are 2 separate control systems for the AWD based on whether you get an Auto or Manual tranny intuitively leads one to believe that there will be advantages and disadvantages between the two systems. Since they control the AWD in different ways, it would be unwise to assume that they perform the same. If they wanted the same performance, they could have placed the same control system on both transmission options.
A: The automatic transmission has a computer system that does all of the thinking for you and is the most safest out of the two options. The manual transmission option is really intended for people who are experienced in driving a manual awd vehicle. It seems silly to think that but you'd be surprised to find many people actually do tear up a manual awd transmission due to bad driving habits which I won't get into here. You seem like a cautious individual so I doubt you'd have any problems with the manual. The automatic transmission mechanically puts the power to the wheels that need it, the computer adjusts the duty ratio of the solenoid that splits the power from front to rear or the reverse depending on various things like road conditions/wheel slippage, speed, throttle position, etc. Now the ratio will vary with the above conditions and 90/10 is on dry pavement or tight turns. The system will change to a near 60/40 (I don't have exact figures at this time - this is just an example of how this system works) as needed. So which is superior? The automatic because it is safer than the manual especially if you have traction control and the computer takes out all the guesswork. Other than that it boils down to preference. The more sophisticated awd systems are found on the Legacy 5speed automatics and the Tribeca.
Q: Thinking of buying the Subaru Impreza 2.5 Premium, Toyota Matrix, or the Mazda5 - all 2009. Which one?
A: if you live with snow the Subaru rules.
look at the Pontiac Vibe it's the mechanical twin to the Toyota matrix and sells for thousands less.
the mazda is nice also but the more expensive sport versions are more fun to drive.
all good choices just depends on your needs and how much options you want to add or can afford.
drive a Kia Optima it's value priced and reliable.
Q: Can someone complie a list of cars?
Can someone make a list of cars that a stock 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STi can beat?
Name cars that are also stock, with no mods.
I guess it doesnt matter what year the opponent cars are.
P.S. no evo vs sti flame wars. :)
10 points to the most detailed compiled list!
A: you did not specify what type of vehicles, or in what aspect the WRX was to be beaten, so here's a list of 75. for the sake of simplicity, i only have 08-09 models, and i did not include every possible trim level

Q: Will small cars ever be 'in vogue' in the USA?
What do you think? Will hatchbacks ever become cool with Americans? I know that at present there are some hatchbacks - the 2009 Subaru Impreza 5-door. Also, in 2010 Ford will bring the Ford Fiesta hatchback in the US.
Will the USA ever like that thing (Citroen C1): http://www.cartorque.co.za/images2/CITROEN%20C1%201px300.jpg
A: Last time I was in USA I thought it was already happening, helped by the global credit crunch. EG:
"GM, Ford, Chrysler Sales Slip,
Toyota Posts 12% Increase" - news item
The Toyota Prius is a hatchback and its US sales double every year. Small Hondas etc are very popular in the UK and are selling increasingly well in the US. Do you Americans really want to be held to ransom by the Middle Eastern and Russian oil producers? It makes sense for everyone to be driving fuel efficient hatchbacks. They don't even have to be that small to be economical and fast. I regularly drive a diesel VW Passat which does 55 mpg and has 140bhp - quite fast enough for our UK roads, let alone yours where there are such stringent speed limits. And it's nice to drive, and well put together. PS we have Fords here that are hatchback versions of the saloons you drive, so it should be easy to meet demand, once you all realise how much money you will be saving when you get away from your gas guzzlers, and recognize the advantages of a car you can convert into a capable load carrier.
Q: subaru 2.5 i impreza is good?
i have an accident before , i hit black ice and then hit the guiderail.
my car is total lost. my old car is 2009 matrix awd.
i'm thinking to buy subaru 2.5 i impreza
i'm in toronto, there is much snow.
i don't know if this car fits me for safety ?
or vw rabbit is better?
thanks a lot
A: All Subarus are excellent cars. The all wheel drive system is far better then what the Matrix offers. The Impreza body weight is distributed better throughout the car, giving you better handling. You will also be impressed with the 2.5 boxer engine, it will blow the doors off the Matrix and fuel economy will be about the same.
Q: Which car has more pros than cons, and why ?
Okay so I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a car. I've shopped around and found these to be somewhat of my liking.
2008 NISMO 350Z - $38,680
2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT - $24,000
2008 Scion tc - $17,000
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO GSR - $33,000
2009 Subaru Impreza WRX - $25,000
My least fav. would be the WRX and EVO, everyone and their moms got one in my area. I'm actually think of the NISMO 350Z. I've got great credit for my age group, got at least 7g saved but I plan on saving a a few more bucks. I just want to know other contributing factors from other import car tuners. Any info is good info, unless it is completely inane. Info on moded parts and ideas are more than welcomed here. Thanks So Much!!!!
A: here's my take on each car:
350Z - hella fast, sick, slick car, even without mods. but recent nissan models don't age very well, and no matter how nice it looks and drives now, it's still a big question how this will be 10 years down the road.
Eclipse - pretty cool, engine displacement is almost twice of what it used to be (2.0L before, 3.8L now). front wheel drive means it's not much fun, plus it's getting a little flabby (overweight).
tC - i don't know much about Scions because there aren't any in this country, but i know it's a Toyota brand, which is a good thing. they also used to make real sweet tuner cars, and i'm pretty sure this isn't an exception. based on what i've seen on the net, it's a refreshing change from the default civic for tuners.
EVO - well, its name says it all. still one of the best performance cars around, though it doesn't look very cool with 4 doors. lots of 'em to go around doesn't help.
Impreza - pretty much the same input as the EVO, only this is cheaper.
my recommendation: tC, for value-for-money and parts available. but you might also wanna take a look at the new Civic Si coupe, with almost 200hp off the dealership. these are also the only cars that i'd recommend given the state of your wallet. =P 7G ain't a lot, man.
Q: which is a better car?
mitsubishi lancer ralliart (2009)
or
subaru impreza wrx (2009)
as in performance, weight, 0-60, hp, comfort, visual, etc.
and this is about the new lancer ralliart, it looks different
A: Honestly, they are basically the same it is gonna come down to the test drive and which one u feel more comfortable in. The lancer vs. impreza battle has been going on for years it is always close but personally I would go for the lancer!
Q: Which of these three cars should I get?
Im thinking about getting a 2004 or a 2005 Subaru Impreza wrx sti or a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. I want a car that has nice speed and handling and gets good gas mileage. Also one that looks pretty sweet. I want to see your opinions backed with support as to what car you think is better before I made my decision
A: Are you talking about the Rally cars or the normal 4cyl cars?
The EVO has the handling, but the STi has the speed. (These differences are slight.)
For the regular cars the Lancer doesn't have the All-Wheel Drive like the Impreza 2.5RS, so it's better on gas, quicker, and handles a little notchier to top it of. The Impreza has the mid-level WRX for decent proformance too.
But the Lancer honestly is the better car for the entry level spot.
