Q: What kind of headers should I get for my 2008 Subaru Impreza?
Is there any headers that make the boxer rumble be pronounced? I hate the stock headers because they sound like an inline. I want to make it sound like a WRX. It's a non turbo 2.5i Impreza hatch. Please help.
A: best_1- Not flaming but I just checked cobbtuning.com their exhaust for the regular impreza only goes up to 05 models (rs) and not an 08 (i). Have a link to prove otherwise?
OP- Sorry but you will have to go with an unequal length header to produce the "boxer rumble" sound. This would require some custom work considering how your flanges won't line up for a unequal length manifold. You realize you will lose power doing this as well correct? IMO not worth the time + money.
Q: Can I use regular store bought 50/50 mixture coolant in my 2008 Subaru Impreza?
One of the reading materials included said that the engine has alumnimum parts and if I dont use geniune Subaru coolant it might cause corrosion or other problems. Is this valid or does Subaru just want to scare us consumers so that we will only buy Subaru parts?
A: It's a scare tactic. Go ahead and give your car a drink.
Q: how much did you pay for the subaru impreza 2008?
just wondering for anyone who's bought a subaru impreza 2008 (sports hatchback), what you paid for it, which dealer and rep you had....i'm looking to purchase one but definitely dont want to pay for sticker MSRP price......thanks!
sorry, i need it in canada,....so canadian pricing & dealerships in vancouver, bc!
A: Before you go out buying one make sure the dealer is up to date on their recalls cause later year turbo 08-09 foresters and imprezas have been recalled and on hold cause of engine knock
Q: Question about the 2008 subaru impreza wrx?
If I were to purchase a 2008 subaru impreza wrx, can I get the STi hatchback spoiler installed and all the other goodies they offer to add on their website?
A: Yes you can. The spoiler even comes painted if you have one that is the came color as the STI's. I think only white is different. Other accessories will depend. Front grill will fit but front lip spoiler will not. I have seen a WRX with the STI spoiler and it looks like it should have come that way. Really nice.
Q: Does anyone know how to disable the video off function of the DVD for a 2008 Subaru Impreza?
When the vehicle moves, the DVD video turns off for safety reasons. I would like to disable this function so we can watch a movie when we are travelling.
It is for my family to watch while we are on long trips. Please keep your opinions to yourself on driving. I am looking at you Mad Jack.
A: Important safety feature that NEVER should be disabled!
If you get in an accident, and the DVD is on, you WILL be at fault, no matter what the circumstances. As this could be a reckless driving ticket, your insurance may not pay. You would be sued, and lose.
Is watching an idiot box while driving really worth all that.
Save the boob tube for when you are at home.
Q: 2008 Subaru Impreza (non-turbo) - oil change every 7,500 miles?
I just had my 2008 Subaru Impreza in for it's 7,500 maintenance and service, and I noticed that according to my manual's maintenance schedule, I'm not due for another service until 15,000 miles. In fact, all future services occur at 7,500 mile intervals. Does this seem like too long to go without an oil change? It would be great if I could go that long without one, but wanted to be sure that this was acceptable.
A: If you drive 7500 a year, I would change it sooner, but if you drive that in 6 months, I think you'd be ok with that interval.
Oil change intervals have been beaten to death on the internet and I have come to the following conclusions:
Everyone says "better be safe than sorry", while I agree with this, I have not heard of anyone blowing their engine due to oil breakdown while changing at the manufactures recommended interval.
Never leave oil in longer than a year regardless of miles.
Based on oil analysis i have seen, time is another factor besides just absolute miles.
Make sure the oil level is always correct.
The only way to tell if an oil is still lubricating properly after xxxx miles is to have a lab analyze it. (from what i have read people's samples sometimes show good oil condition at 10k, others poor at 4k.)
I have an 09 forester. I did my first oil change at 2600. I think its prudent to perform the first one a little early as there are more particles present as the engine brakes in. I think i'm going to do my 2nd one after another 5k. After that I think i'm going to just make sure I change it twice a year. I drive between 10-12k a year, so that puts me between 5-6k per change.
I change my motorcycle oil between 1500 and 2500, but thats a whole other animal!!!!!
Bottom line, never go more than a year without a change, and never exceed 7500k. Changing every 3k i think is a waste of time, money and the environment.
Q: how much should i sell a 2008 subaru impreza?
parents gave me a car i can hardly afford payment for. should i do to the dealer or sell it private and how much for? only a few minor scratches
sedan 4 doors 2.5i
A: Net/net (the lowest amount a dealer can sell a car for before they lose money) on an '08 Impreza 4-door automatic 2.5i is about $16800 (sticker being $18660). You would need to sell yours for less than a dealer can possibly sell a new one for (probably about $15500). If you have a different model, you should adjust the price accordingly.
Q: Is a 2008 subaru impreza STI a reasonable first car for my 16\17 year old son?
2008 impreza sti
A: No, infact its an insane car for a 16/17 year old.
I have a 2004 Impreza WRX, which is the model below the STI. It has a few modifications, but it doesn't have the power of an STI.
Having said that I wouldn't even consider selling it to anyone with less than five years driving experience, because of the risk of them killing themselves.
Your son may be quite sane, responsible, and be free of delusions of immortality. But he has absolutely no driving experience, and the problem with fast cars is after you get used to them, they don't feel fast anymore, but they still are.
At the end of the day the 0-60 is probably somewhere in the region of 5.5 seconds, probably less, some have estimated that its closer to 4.8 seconds. To put it in perspective, the acceleration of a Lamborghini Gallardo is 4.5 seconds.
The time between 40-100mph would be much less than the 0-60. The reason why I am emphasising the acceleration; the quicker it is, the easier it is to make a fatal mistake.
As your asking this question, I assume that you haven't driven many performance cars. If so then what I am trying to say is difficult to explain.
If you test drive one, you will see what I mean.
I have no doubt that your son would love it, and would hate us for telling you to not buy him one. But if you got him an STI and something happened to him, you may well end up having to live with that decision.
Q: Could you install a cold air intake designed for a WRX Subaru Impreza on a 2008 Impreza 2.5i?
I currently own a 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i. I am looking to add a few light mods including a cold air intake. Through looking online, all i have come across are intakes for WRX or STI models. Is there a difference in the intakes? and could i install one in my 2.5i?
And if its not possable, Is there any cold air intakes for the 2.5i?
thank you.
A: You don't need a cold air intake.
The gain from a standard intake to a cold air, are marginal, at best.
You gain, maybe, a few horsepower, at a peak rpm. But none at the rest. And sometimes, even lose horsepower.
Search for yourself, if you want. Importtuner.com has a few power pages, about the WRX, but it's pretty common. Gain some horsepower, lose some torque. Gain top end, lose acceleration.
Don't bother.
Q: Changing headlights and other bulbs in 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i?
Does anyone know how to replace the headlight, (low high beams) and the fog lights on the 08 Impreza? I am looking for a step by step method.
Thanks,
A: Your owner's manual should show you in detail how to do it.
Q: is the 2008 subaru impreza 5-door a reliable car?
i am thinking about getting the 2008 subaru impreza 5 door. is it a reliable car? is it the 1st year for the new body style? or was it introduced in the 2007 model? if it is the 1st year out, should i stay away for a couple years until they work all the kinks out?
my current car has most recently been in the shop for 2 months and has put a huge hole in my wallet since i bought it brand new 6 years ago. i want a reliable car that will never be in the shop, if possible. is that the subaru impreza? thanks!
A: Motor and transmission is identical to last model so reliability should not be a problem. The new model does have a new suspension design in the rear that is much better than the old. I put 110,000 miles on my 02 WRX pretty heavily modified and never had it in the shop. My 06 has 9000 on it now and no problem yet either. I'd say go for it. They are great cars.
Q: Which should I buy: the 2008 Mazda 3 i touring value OR 2008 subaru impreza 2.5i sedan?
Hey guys. I'm trying to decide on a car to buy and I've narrowed it down to either the 2008 mazda 3 or 2008 subaru impreza. I like the mazda because it looks nice, handles nice, and seems to be a pretty reliable car. On the other hand, the subaru impreza may not look as nice, but it has all wheel drive and is supposedly safer than the mazda (the mazda scored 3 out of 5 stars for the side crash test, 4 out of five stars for the front crash test while the subaru got 4-5 out of 5 side, and 5 out of 5 front). So, any advice as to which I should ultimately buy? Thanks!!
A: The Suburu is a slightly better car. The AWD is awesome in rain and snow. The Mazda gets better gas mileage. I would get the Suburu if the gas wasn't a huge difference.
Q: which car is a better buy the 2008 mitsubishi lancer evo x or the 2008 subaru impreza wrx sti?
A: It is really a matter of choice for both cars are ultimately capable on the road. If you are looking for ride comfort, then go with the STi. If you are looking for a car that's fantastic to toss around in corners, go for the Evo X. Interior amenities are better in the STi as well. Mechanically, the Evo X gets the nod. The Evo has a better 4 wheeldrive system and more advanced than the STi. Indeed, the STi goes faster in a straight line but in twisty mountain roads, the Evo X gets the laurel. I, in particular am biased towards the Evo X. I like the sedan styling better. Car enthusiasts at edmunds.com rated the Evo X MR and the GSR ahead of the STi. Even Consumer Reports prefers the Evo X over the STi in the track although the STi is the preferred car overall since it's an easier car to live with. Bottomline is, whichever you pick, you can never go wrong.

Q: how to remove stock radio in 2008 subaru impreza?
A: i could be wrong but try this website http://www.fitaudio.com/?View=entry&EntryID=101
Q: i bought a 2008 subaru impreza if i put any performance parts in or change anything will the warranty be void?
A: It depends...things such as lift kits and larger tires can actually void your warranty, the manufacturer says that they put extra stress on the vehicle. In your case you're probably not looking at lift kits but some performance parts can get the same result, greater wear and tear on your vehicle. Things such as short shifters and nitro greatly increase the chance of something going wrong with your vehicle in addition to the chance of the manufacturer attributing the damage to the vehicle to the aftermarket parts. My suggestion: buy parts that will make your car faster but have very low risk of damaging essential parts. Things like Cold air intakes, Exhaust Systems(headers, mufflers) and, Turbo Timers will make your car faster with the lowest risk of doing anything to your vehicle's warranty. Good Luck!
