Q: How do you remove the stock stereo from a 2004 Subaru Impreza?
I haven't been able to find this anywhere. I want to know how to get the trim/stereo casing off to remove the old head unit. I have found this for '05 imprezas, but they don't look like my car.

A: go to forums.nasioc.com, register & search. Or iwsti.com Either site will have the guide you need. Bah, here. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749402

Q: What is causing my 2004 Subaru Impreza rear wiper to stop off the home position? Is there a relay?
The wiper should be intermittant but now it wipes continuously until it is shut off. When it stops, it will stop any where. I have inspected the motor and the internal switches and they are fine. The dealer suggested that the wiper switch on the steering column is faulty, but I don't buy it. There must be a relay somewhere which creates the intermittant action. I believe that this is stuck closed, but I can't find any relay!

A: It should be under warranty, depending on the mileage. Rear wiper transmission is probably sticking or the nut is loose.

Q: What the gas milage for a 2004 subaru Impreza wagon?
The question says it all :D

A: I get 26mpg mixed driving in my WRX wagon. My friend gets 23mpg mixed in his 2.5i impreza..

Q: Whats the horse power for a 2004 subaru impreza wagon?
I really need to know EASY 10 points :D

A: 165

Q: How to fix rear window washer on Subaru Impreza 2004?
The fluid has just stopped flowing from the rear window washer of my Subaru. I can hear the motor working, the front washer is flowing well and the fluid level is sufficient. Any advice where I could look first to try and fix it before bringing the car to a repair center?

A: sometimes there is a reservoir for the back wiper somewhere in the back...like by the panels behind the lights or where the jack might be????

Q: whats the cheapest way to upgrade my 2004 subaru impreza wrx?

A: Depends what your goal is. The number one thing you want to do is ditch that catted uppipe. The turbo comes on around 500rpm lower and mid rpm lag is greatly reduced. After that the best bang for the buck is a turbo back exhaust and an ECU remap like cobb accessport or ecutek. Those three mods will just about put you almost into stock STi territory. Headers on a 2.0l and stock turbo really aren't worth it. You lose enough low end and only gain about 7-9whp up top(on stock turbo) to make it not worth it, even coated headers lose enough spool to make then not very appealing. An intake on 2.0l with stock turbo is pretty much for noise, no real gains at all. Intercooler on a 2.0l with stock turbo does more harm that good. It will fend off heat soak and reduce your charge temp a bit, but it will introduce quite a bit of lag. A crank pulley will free up a bit of parasitic loss but don't expect to feel it on the butt dyno, maybe 5whp. To me, your best low budget bet is uppipe, turbo back(preferably catless), and accessport, then have it protuned and you'll have a very happy little beast. After uppipe, turbo back, and reflash, the only way to go is up, and up in price, 2.5l bottom end, big turbo, stand alone EMS, all sorts of goodies, but with it comes the need for better tranny, better diffs, better brakes, and in the end you'ld save money picking up and STi as a starting block that going anything over the basic mods. The comes from experience, I used to own a wrx wagon with about $15k in mods(all go, no show), after picking up my STi I kicked myself in the butt for not getting one sooner.

Q: where do I find a 2004 subaru impreza wrx engine block?
I have a engine now with 25091 miles, It recently blew a rod bearring... So I want a engine block but a low mileage 2.0t will do... I am the second owner of this car... I know alot about this car.. Others seem to oppose this! But they dont know what they are talking about. I dont know the exact models of parts because I did not buy them... If you dont have a real answer do not write one... I know I could rebuild the engine, but thats a waste of money... I want an engine block because it is soo simple to swap out... But a fully built engine with low miles would be an exception... A 2.0 crawford block would be better than a 2.5 sti block right??? The technician from slowboy said it could match the sti blocks horsepower or do better... What do you think about that???? Let me know, When I said my car had 300 horses with out the turbo, I meant with the stock not the after market turbo! So ask questions instead critisizing or acting like you know everything!! Cause obviously you would have to have some serious performance on the engine to get it at 300 without the turbo!!! About the transmission... It is an automatic... As of now... the car has around 350 horses... the transmission doesnt seem to be a problem.. I could slam down the gass and in between all the gears(1-4) the transmission never slipped made noises or none of the sort... I havent actually had time to check out every aspect of the car, as in what little extras it may have... If what ur saying about the transmission is true, I must have some type of shift kit... Or the transmission must not be a problem, cause I havent experienced any problems with it... The cars goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds... I actually raced a stock 2006 sti, he barely beat me off the line.... Somewhere near the end of first gear, which is at 40mph... The sti got smoked. My car takes, not even a second to shift gears... So Either the transmission is seriously great, or I have some type of shift kit... What do you think about this... Any other questions? Ask me before critisizing, cause I do know quite a bit about my car.. Ok, I see you must know alot about wrx's... First off, here is a full list of parts... Exhaust(sokudo) Header, down pipe, up pipe, cat, mid pipe, muffler and 3' piping. Sti intercooler, k&n intake, after market turbo,(dont know the model yet) blow off valve and it has sti fuel injectors. It has a sti wing, bigger than sti hood scoop,(aftermarket same look but taller) tein suspension,(nothing missing) front/rear torsion bars, air/fuel ratio gauge, turbo boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, 17in gold rims(adr). Whe I say header back, its pretty self explanitory! From the header back to the muffler. Also the car was tuned fine... I live in Leadville colorado which is 10,210ft... I bought the car from washington state which has way lower elevetion.. It is also way colder here than there, which causes the turbo to boost around 5lbs higher than at an average temperature of 50 degrees.. My air to fuel ratio was rich, which in my case it couldnt get any richer. So I had problems...

A: I thought you were going to have Quirt(crawford) build you a block? What about this 20lb boost turbo BS, NO WRX owners would call it a 20lb boost turbo they would call it by it's model, IE VF34, PE1820, or GT30? I thought you were omnipotent when it came to scoobies? If your bottom end is popped why not upgrade to a 2.5L bottom end, instant 25% performance increase and much better torque. You also list an intake which is a big nono, not a single mention of injectors, or engine management, only the riceboy modes. What is header back turbo 3" exhaust AND a bigger than STi exhaust system? You have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have NO idea what you are talking about. Instead of giving people thumbs down and lying out your behind, why not try to learn? No a built 2.0l will not even come close to the performance of a 2.5L. How about a built 2.5l? Even better a stroked 2.5l, stroke it to 2.65 and gain even more HP. There is no replacement for displacement. You're talking 25% more displacement. I'm running about 550 crank HP(my 110 tune should be around 650 at the crank) on stock STi internals with zero troubles and I know many many other people with no troubles at all. With more displacement you get more air flow, so you get boost sooner with a given turbo. Boost sooner equals wider power band which equals more power. Also for daily driving having that extra .5l makes for far less turbo lag. Also the fact that you talk about a block and not the important stuff you'll need to go along with it makes me suspicious. The WRX transmission can barely handle stock power, you talk about 400whp? there's no way it will survive. with 330whp my wrx tranny grenaded in the middle of the gear. I replaced it with STi RA V6 gearset and that lasted pretty well. Even at 330whp(about 425 crank hp) the motor wasn't a big issue, the differentials, clutch, tranny, and the rest of the support things were the problem. Also, even with the automatic, once you get over 300whp the diffs and other parts start not being too terribly happy. it's easy to tell what turbo it is, look at the side of the turbo. Although depending on the mount you may need an inspection mirror to see it. The biggest problem that cued me in is that you said your car has 300whp without the turbo, that is the biggest crock around. There is NO WAY because the engine is designed for the turbo, it runs like hell without the turbo. Ok even trying to catch yourself and saying that is it is with the stock turbo that you got 300hp, the stock wrx turbo won't even come close to 300hp. As I said in a previous thread, I've owned a Spec C swapped impreza L, a 330whp wrx wagon, and my current 438whp STi, unlike you I do 99% of the work myself, usually just visiting one of the big tuners to finalize my tune on the dyno, even though I do most of the tuning myself as well. My summer project is boring and stroking it out to about 2.8l and stepping up to a GT40, should be good for 500whp on pump gas, and closer to 650whp on race + meth. Here's I'll break down what you said in another thread, I'll put my questions and comments in parens (). The guy bought the car new for around 30 thousand($30K he was an idiot, my STi was $35K OTD).... Its a limited(big deal, my wagon was too and I paid $23k OTD with 1 3/10 miles)... He then upgraded 10 thousand worth of parts(oh yeah, what parts? the stuff you listed isn't $10K)... The parts are, header back 3" exhaust system(why do you mention bigger than STi exhaust below and WTF is header back? the parts of a WRX exhaust system are Headers, Uppipe, and Turbo back exhaust which includes downpipe, midpipe and exhaust, plus or minus a cat here and there), 20lb boost turbo(you mention turbo again later, and WTF is 20lb boost turbo, NOONE REFERS TO THEIR TURBO BY PRESSURE, the stock wrx turbo can make 20psi, a vf34 can make more than that, it's all about efficiency and flow, NOT WHAT PRESSURE), sti intercooler( ok for stock turbo or VF30/34 worthless for others), k&n air intake(with no engine management?), full suspension(what suspension?), sti wing(big deal, I took mine off and I also have an RS hood to be stealth, not a riceboy), bigger than sti exhaust(a second mention of exhaust?) , turbo(a second turbo?), air/fuel, and oil pressure gauges(oil pressure ok, what A/F gauge? most are worthless)... I paid $19,500 for it(you got ripped)... The only problem I experienced was the 20lb boost turbo was just too much for the small block... therefore I blew a rod bearring(BS, it was either not tuned correctly, or it wasn't tuned correctly)... And after that, the most important questions, no torque converter? No engine management? what injectors? what fuel pump? No TGV delete? Still stock cams? What brakes? things that make me go hmmmmmm. I'm sure you'll come up with something creative to try and cover your tracks. Ok anyhow. Before you invest money in a Quirt built bobblehead block, check out the forums at http://www.nasioc.com and http://www.i-club.com Personally, depending on the money, I'd go with a STi block and a GT35R with a mild tune, I'd also get helix cams and spring kit. You should have no troubles getting 400 wheel horsepower(over 500 at the crank), even with WRX heads. The tranny might hold so long as you don't get too silly. If you want even more than that for another $3k you can get a stroker kit(that comes with crank rod arms, and pistons) that will make it 2.65l, and a little more for some sleeves and you could push it quite a bit. If you're in california I'd give Mike at GST a ring(formerly of Gruppe-S) or one of the guys at LIC motorsports a call and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Both are excellent block builders, and integrators. As most of the competant people left gruppe-s and went to GST I have a hard time recommending Gruppe-s right now.

Q: What the horse power for a 2004 impreza wagon and a 2004 subaru outback sport?
The qustion says it all :D

A: 165-hp, 2.5-liter flat four for both. Unless you get an Impreza WRX wagon, that has 227 hp out of a 2.0L.

Q: Where can I get an idle control valve for a 2004 Subaru Impreza?
I looked up at subaruparts.com

A: Best price I found when I needed one was at SubaruGenuineParts.com from a lady named Jamie there. Even got it the day after I ordered it. If you do get a new one remember to get a new gasket too. They are sold separately. The gasket stretches over time so if you remove the old one, it may be impossible to get it back on properly.

Q: What would you reccomend? "2004 subaru impreza wrx STI", "2000 Honda civic si", or a "2005 pontiac gto"
Its gonna be my first car, it would help if you answer

A: As a first car, the Civic Si. I'd been driving for six years before getting a STI (1999 V6 Cougar before that,) and after having the STI for two years, it still can still surprise me sometimes. The turbo lag is not something a relatively inexperienced driver is going to be well prepared to deal with, and it is not a very forgiving car to drive. The GTO will have similar issues with power (though more predictable,) plus it feels like an overpowered family car to drive - not nimble like the STI or, I suspect, the Civic. Civic Si will do fine as a first car without too much additional risk.

Q: would a 2004 subaru impreza with one of those vent in the hood be a wrx or wrx sti?

A: like said above it could be either one, if it has a large wing on the back it is an STI if there is only a small deck wing it would be a WRX best way to tell is the badging on the back they will both say WRX on the left but there will be a pink bordered STI badge on the right of the STI trunk. or you can look inside all STI's have blue and black racing seats with the STi logo in the head rest

Q: I have a 2004 Subaru Impreza RS. I want a cat-back exhaust system that has a deep rumble. What do you suggest

A: I have a Magnaflow exhaust on my 3 and I love it. Borla has a great sound too. You should pick up 5 additional brake horsepower. Enjoy.

Q: Should my husband get a 2004 Subaru Impreza STI or a 2004 Dodge Ram Hemi Truck?

A: well if he's gay go for the impreza thingy,if he's a man get the dodge, and go hunting for impreza drivers. get him the lift kit option and dual exhaust.Throw a bottle of viagra in the glove box too!!!

Q: can the 2006 subaru impreza tail lights work on a 2004 subaru impreza?
i'm curious

A: They will fit perfectly but there may be some wiring work needed to make them work correctly. Not 100% sure though so maybe check on some of the Subaru forums to be sure. I thought I read that they will plug in and work but one or more of the bulbs are places in different positions so a couple wires need to be switched. I could be way off though. I just hate for you to think everything went great but your reverse lights come on every time you brake you know. Try NASIOC.com for good info on Subaru's.

Q: What is the wieght of a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX 16" Rim without the Tire?
Just the Alloy Rim weight no rubber. Thanx

A: The factory wrx rims are pretty light and strong. (16.5 lbs)
