Live just to the west of Fort Worth, TX, and I am looking for a used Subaru Baja to purchase.

Q: How many miles will a Subaru Baja live?
Hello! I'm in the market for a Subaru Baja and I can't seem to find anything that will tell me what the average life is for a Subaru before it gives out. I know some will last over 100,000 miles, but can anyone give me any specifics? I'm currently looking at an 04 modle with a little over 44k on it. Any thoughts? Thank you guys!!! It's a Baja Sport not the turbo. I don't plan on racing and hopefully no bumper cars! :)

A: I have an 04 WRX with 53k miles. I have just done regular maintenance; oil changes, fuel filter, trans and differential oil. It has never been back to the dealer for any repair and shows no signs of breaking down. I drive it hard, but don't abuse it. BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED! http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73397

Q: What can you tell me about the Subaru Baja?
i have been in love with subaru's since highschool (I was a tuba play and needed trunk space), now that I am older and will be graduating college in a couple years, I just want to know what people think about the Subaru Baja-like mpg, reliability, yearly cost, is it an "exotic vehicle" or foreign, quality, crash test, and how is the company doing (will they be around for sometime or go belly up)?

A: If you're interested in a new Baja, you'd better act soon. The last Baja rolled off the production line in Lafayette, IN back in April and dealers will probably receive their last Bajas in July. If you can afford it and the premium gasoline it likes, the Baja Turbo is a very quick vehicle. The Baja is based on the Legacy/Outback platform and shares the same service manuals. I, personnally, am not too fond of the body cladding, but it does serve a purpose. Although the Baja hasn't been tested by the IIHS for crashworthiness, other Subaru have. The 2006 Forester, Impreza and Legacy all received "GOOD" ratings in every category - very rare. I expect the Baja to be very safe, as well.

Q: What is valet lockout on a Subaru Baja?
I have a Subaru Baja and one of the listed security features is Valet lockout. I do not know what this is. But today, when I went to put my son on bus with car running, the doors locked on me. Now, I do not know if one of us accidentally hit the lock button, but I did not think that they locked with the key in the ignition, much less the car running. So I did not know if this lockout feature had anything to do with my incident this AM.

A: You can flip a switch in the trunk that will disengage the trunk opener inside the car. The valet key will not open the trunk from the outside. This feature exists so that you can give the valet key to the valet parker without worrying about him or her opening the trunk. Also, you can lock the glove compartment with the regular key. The valet key will not be able to unlock it. Something may have hit the lock button on your remote. This happens once in a while if your remote is in a pocket (or bag).

Q: What's a better vehicle, Subaru baja, nissan versa, or toyota yaris?
Kind of like the baja but the used ones with 80K still go for around 14K, the price of a new Versa or Yaris. What do to, new or used? Any suggestions?

A: The Baja has been discontinued due to lack of sales. They are a great car though , as Subaru's are pretty well "bullet proof". The Versa and Yaris are a diferent type of vehicle. It all breaks down to what you like, want and need in a vehicle.

Q: Is there a bike rack for my Subaru Baja that is bed mounted and accepts the bike with the front tire on?
I have seen the one that accepts two bikes after removing the front tires. I really hate to do that.

A: There is one that is hitch mounted and one that fits on the cargo carrier on top of the car. Check the OEM accessories catalog at the site below.

Q: What vehicle is better the frontier nismo or the subaru baja?
they are both 2006 which is the better deal and they are both 4wd.

A: frontier rules dude. i have one its awesome.

Q: Does the 2005 Subaru Baja have a catalytic converter?
I got into an argument with my friend who ones one, we found something that looked just like one just after the turbo charger, but he is still not convinced it has one.

A: Yep! All cars have catalytic converters. It isn't an option.

Q: how do you change a subaru baja transmission fluid?
I just need to find out where to add the transmission fluid

A: AUTO OR MANUAL

Q: does anyone remember the subaru baja?
why was the subaru baja never very popular, it was such a cool car and subaru only made it for 4-5 years. If you own one, what review would you give it?

A: Don't worry it will come back, it was a brat back in the day, the Baja thru 06 (there are still a handful of low mileage 06's you can get) and it will return down the road, probably with a turbo diesel. Not that I work for Subaru and have any kind of insight or anything. It is an awesome car, the Turbo especially. Subaru also needs to just turn the tribeca into a minivan and make a tacoma and tundra sized pickup and will decimate all areas. As a review the Baja is awesome like all Subaru's its got good inside room with its 4 doors, a useful bed, Subaru AWD and symmetrical drive train, and a unique look. I call it the Japanese El Camino. Nobody has ever not liked it and its a very sought after vehicle. Low sales where not the issue it was production cost, we sold out of Baja's but because the Imprezas. Legacys. Outbacks and Foresters share so much its cheaper to produce, the Baja was the odd man out basically.

Q: I have a Subaru Baja, there's extreme air noise near the front of the doors/windows. Does anyone have a remedy?
The rubber trim around the windows seem to be intact. I am wondering if this is a problem with the Baja or just mine, and how can I fix it? Thank you..

A: I had an '03 Baja that had that problem. The dealer did some adjusting to the door and it seemed to help. I currently have an '06 Baja - it does not have that problem.

Q: Does the Subaru Baja, Outback, Legacy or Forester have rear windows that ROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN?
My three dogs are suffocating in the rear seats of my Volvo. I'd like to sell it and buy a Subaru Baja. Can a mechanic really fix the Baja's windows if they don't roll down all the way? I heard it's the rear wheels and doors that prevent the windows from going all the way down. Thanks. Jean Kilczer

A: Due to the way the rear doors are partially over the wheel opening the windows in the rear doors cant go all the way down.Just the way they are.The Tribeca may be different, havent paid any attention to them yet in the shop.

Q: In what conditions will a 05 Subaru Baja doors lock with key in ignition?
My 2005 Sub. Baja locked on me the other morning while it was running. I am not sure if my son or I hit the lock button, but I thought that there was a safety feature to prevent it from locking while the keys were in the ignition. I know my 2000 Dodge Stratus had this feature, but if you manually pushed down the lock without using the electronic button, it could be overridden. But the Baja do not have an easy lock to manually or accidentallly push down without using the electric button. I would just like to know how to prevent this from occurring again. Luckily, I had a 3rd key in the house and one house door happened to be unlocked. Otherwise I would have been locked out of the house with the car running and no way to get in the car and no way to get to work. From the answers of my previous question, it is obvious that it is not a valet lockout feature that caused this. PLease help!!!

A: Not all cars and trucks have a safety feature when it comes to the doors locking when you get out of the car when the car is running unless you either are in first or in drive. In that case, you shouldn't be getting out of the car to begin with. However, from the sounds of it, the lock button was pressed either shortly before you got all the way out of the car, or just after getting out and closing the door. The dealership may have more information on this as they do take serious notes as to what things happen to their customers vehicles.
